“We want our students to feel
unapologetically
Indigenous

in their educational spaces.”

American education has failed Indigenous students. Oceti Sakowin Academy represents the future of Indigenous education–demonstrating the power of a community-led, culturally responsive approach to prepare and empower our future generations. Learn more here.

On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, NDN Collective officially opened Oceti Sakowin Community Academy, the first Indigenous-led school designed specifically for students in the Mni Luzahan (Rapid City) area.

Head of School Mary Bowman spoke on South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s South Dakota Focus about the mission and launch of Oceti Sakowin Community Academy.

We’re growing our team! Oceti Sakowin Community Academy is hiring new educators and cultural specialists to provide instruction and guidance to our students.
